How Yoga Helps My Stress Levels

Throughout America there is one thing everyone seems to agree on: dealing with stress levels is a constant, no matter who you are. And honestly, that makes sense. The instability and pressure of today’s economy coupled with the inability to truly take a break from it all makes it very hard for anyone to not worry about what tomorrow may bring.

Kula for KarmaHealth Links to Stress

Stress is a problem for many different reasons, with the greatest one being the negative impact it can have on your health. High stress levels have been linked to all kinds of health issues including diabetes, heart disease and obesity. So what does that mean for you? Well, it means that you need to start making changes if you think stress is impacting your life.

Exercise is one of the best stress relievers you can do. Not only does it help to increase the positive endorphins in your brain, but by doing so, it can help to lower feelings of depression or anxiety by giving you a sense of control over your body and making you feel better about the way you look.

Yoga as a Stress Reliever

Many studies have been done and one of the greatest forms of stress relieving exercise is that of yoga. With its mind and body connection, yoga helps you to control your breathing while you focus on stretching and relaxation. By connecting the mind and body to achieve a state of peacefulness you are able to manage your stress and anxiety levels much better. Other benefits of yoga include increased balance, flexibility and strength. Furthermore, yoga is also said to reduce cortisol levels and blood pressure.

So with so many incredible benefits, why aren’t more people practicing yoga? Or maybe we should ask, why are you not practicing yoga, or practicing it when you know you need it the most? If it is because you think you are not flexible enough or because you think you will not be able to “get the poses,” simply let those silly worries leave your mind this minute. Use this moment to stop stressing over meaningless parts of your life. Yoga is great because it is geared toward all age groups and all fitness levels. The only thing you have to have is an open mind and be ready to make positive changes in your life because yes, yoga will impact your entire life. If you are ready for that change, contact your local yoga studio today. If you need help finding one, please comment below and we will help you.
