Guest Blog Post: Grace Hodgin of Blessed Elements Create

Aurorae is proud to announce that we are welcoming guest bloggers on our new blog, Illuminations. We would like to introduce our first guest blogger, Grace Hodgin. I’ve asked her to introduce herself as well as tell us why she found yoga and continues to incorporate it into her life.


Welcome, Grace Hodgin from Blessed Elements Create

My name is Grace Hodgin and I am a blogger at Blessed Elements Create and pursue the life style of a positive thinker. I am excited to be a part of the Aurorae family by sharing my love and progression with Yoga in my life on their blog.

Blessed Elements CreateI was introduced to yoga by my father who taught me some Yoga positions and was intrigued by the benefits it gave me physically, mentally and by the origin of Yoga. I was in grade school when my father discovered Yoga and I can still remember his enthusiasm and discovery that Yoga brought to him.

I became interested in Yoga because of my love for my father and the fascination he showed towards it. Eventually I began to study Yoga on my own and practiced breathing techniques and reading books about Yoga when I was just in the 6th grade. Back then, I wasn’t even aware that Yoga was a form of exercise; I just enjoyed doing the different positions.

What is Yoga to Me?

Although now I do know that many use Yoga as a form of exercise, to me, it is much more than that. It is a form of life and a venue towards peace of mind. It gives me the ability to center my self and thoughts. I now use it to begin my mediation moments and create my own Yoga routines which I feel is a wonderful way to begin and end each day. Once I began to seriously use and read more about Yoga, I too became aware that Yoga encompasses and is beneficial for the health and well being of the mind, body and how it often leads me on a path of self awareness.

As an adult I am very aware of the reason that Yoga intrigued my father and am so thankful that he had an inquiring mind and was not afraid to explore different avenues of thought not normally accepted in the culture he grew up in as a child.

Yoga is a perfect compliment for my positive thinking life style and I love the quality products that Aurorae provides and their commitment towards Yoga and the lives they touch through their support of community and their charitable donations.

I became a New Orleans resident in September 2011 and will never look back because this city offers everything I want in life.

    I have been doing some very basic yoga to try to stay limber and flexible and I really think it helps. It is hard as i get older to find exercises that I can do without hurting myself!

  5. I’ve never tried Yoga but I heard so many wonderful things about it. As a blogger maybe this is a route I should follow since I spend so many hours sitting at a computer. Thanks for sharing!

    My brother is in med school now and he started doing yoga because of the health benefits. He has me convinced that I can lower my stress and have a more positive outlook if I give it a try. I love healthy things like this to improve my health without pills!

  7. That is so awesome that your Dad introduced yoga to you! My mom introduced it to me! She had a lot of back problems and Yoga was the only way to relieve her pain. So I was introduced to knowing how Yoga can help reduce pain. I fell in love with that aspect.

    I love yoga. I use to do it with my kids but we haven’t had time in a while. I need to get back to it.

  15. I really enjoy yoga, but I have to get more consistent with it. I can tell when I go through a period of consistency how much more balanced I feel!

  16. My colleagues at work swear by the benefits of yoga and I think it might just be time for me to try it and have it in my own life.
