5 Tips for Spring Cleaning by Aurorae

Springtime is here! It’s time to think about cleaning out the old to make room for the new. Simplifying and tidying up can have an overwhelmingly positive impact on your life. When we simplify and get rid of what does not serve us, we make room for new growth and new opportunities. Having a clean, tidy environment can relieve stress and anxiety. These principles can apply not only to cleaning our physical space, but also simplifying other areas of our life. Here is our version of spring cleaning with five tips for spring cleaning this year:

  1. Declutter your house. This one is a prett5722262592_8d5686b89d_oy basic spring cleaning tip, but there is a reason why everyone recommends it: it works! Take a look at your living area and notice if there are lots of items that don’t add value to your life. Maybe it’s time to give away some knick knacks, decorations, clothes you don’t wear, etc. Getting rid of these things that you don’t use will leave you feeling lighter and clearer. Give it a try!
  2. Spring clean your body.  Take part in some self care. Take a bubble bath, dry brush your body, indulge in some nice essential oil lotions for your skin, practice some gentle yoga. These acts will leave you feeling clean, fresh, and renewed from the inside out.
  3. Clean your car and office. It’s important to clean the space where we spend a lot of our time. If you spend many hours in your car commuting to work and back, your car can accumulate a lot of trash and miscellaneous clutter. Notice if your office has gotten dirty or untidy. In both these spaces, take some time to throw out all the trash, remove all unnecessary items, and then deep clean the surfaces you spend lots of time touching (your keyboard, steering wheel, etc). This will leave you feeling refreshed and more comfortable in these spaces.
  4. Declutter your mind. Take a break from work, technology, responsibilities (as much as you can). This could be something big like a vacation, or it could be something much easier, like a night out with friends or a long walk without your phone. Take some time out of your regular routine and just let yourself relax and unwind.
